General Information of Phuket

Phuket is 862 kilometers from Bangkok, the ground area are about 543 square kilometers. The length of the Island from north to south is 48 kilometers, and 21 kilometers wide from east to west, with follow by the small 29 island, they are bigger than Singapore. The famous beaches are: Kata, Karon, Patong, Kamala, Surin, Bangtao, Naiyang. Besides, there are also many famous bays: Pho, Sapam, Chalong, Makarm, Pantri. The famous capes are: Phromthep, Ka, Sing, Trai, All which we can say Phuket is rich in natural beauty.

North connect to Phang Nga on PakPra Gulf which is wide 490 meters by Sarasin Bridge is 660 meters long. This is the Thailand's first bridge across the sea.

South connect to Andaman Sea

East connect to Krabi

West contact to Andaman Sea


Phuket is an island shaped long from north to south, 70% are a plateau or a mountain. The Highest peak called “MaiSipsong Peak” which is 529 meters above sea level can protect the wind and rain from the southwest monsoon. The 30% are the foothills and coastal plains in the center and east. The east coast state beaches and mangrove, and west coast are the mountains and beautiful beaches.


Phuket has a tropical climate, more specifically a tropical monsoon climate, with a dry season from December to March and a rainy season from April to November. Average temperatures range is 28.49 °C

Phuket is divided into 3 districts : Mueang Phuket, Kathu and Thalang, and there are further subdivided into 17 subdistricts and 103 villages, Local Government which are 1 of the Provincial Administration, and 9 municipal: Muang Phuket, Muang Patong, Tambon Karon, Tambon Kathu, Tambon thepkasatri, Tambon chengtalay, Tambon rassada, Tambon rawai, Tambon Vichit, and there are 9 Tambon administrative.

Natural Resources.

There are 107,578 acres of national forest reserves, classified as forest land are 88,235 acres, and Mangrove forest are 19,343 acres. Mineral, Phuket province is one of the sources of tin in the south which are approximately 18,398 metric tons of production.
Water resources, Phuket have a surface water and groundwater sources but not have a main river, just canal, and short line river 118 lines.
